FLYING SQUIRREL PRESERVE 7130 Co. Rd. 121, Fredericktown, OH 43019

Spanning 342 mostly wooded acres, this gem in Morrow County offers a rich tapestry of nature to explore. The preserve includes mixed woodlands dominated by beech, tulip, maple, and oak trees, complemented by hickory, black walnut, and cucumber trees. Around 9 acres of wetlands enrich its biodiversity and protect the headwater streams and wetlands of the Scenic Kokosing River.

The preserve's name is inspired by its history, when the former owner encountered a flying squirrel during a nighttime walk. While flying squirrels are elusive and nocturnal, Ohio boasts a thriving population of these fascinating creatures.

Located primarily in Chester Township, with a small portion in Franklin Township, Flying

Squirrel Preserve was formerly part of the Buckhorn youth camp. This land is now open

for the public to enjoy its beauty and serenity!
